The House That Never Dies<朝內81號/Chao Nei 81 Hao>

This Raymond Yip directed film tells a story of a family haunted by the mysteries of the Chaonei No. 81 mansion, one of the most eerie areas of Beijing. The Chaonei No. 81 was a three-story French Baroque-style house which was built in the 1800s by Qing officials. Legend says that the house became haunted after the end of the Communist Revolution of China in 1949, when the wife of a Kuomintang official who once lived there committed suicide. It is believed that her spirit still haunts the house.

The title actually translates to “Billionaire Heir” which in my opinion is a better English title so I don’t understand why they opted for this mouthful. This is not the “Chinese version” of “Heirs”, you know, that Lee Min-ho starrer. so don’t get confused. But I think, there might be a few similarities. Though I might actually check this one out. The story is pretty simple. An heir who feels abandoned despite his 10 billion dollar inheritance. (Whut?!) So he decided to find happiness elsewhere….
