King Flower/Substitute Princess/金大花的華麗冒險 Episode 12
Review ~
I can’t believe I’m doing this. But to be honest, I am so emotionally invested in this show already that it’s impossible for me not to comment about it unless of course the writers suddenly decide to throw crap at me (like say, turning my beloved Terry into a baddie! (><) in which case I have no other choice but to cut ties with it.
Moving on…
Kai Le came in and told Terry that there are protesters at Sheng Da’s construction site so Terry decided to go and handle it himself and Da Hua tagged along. One thing I liked about this scene was the way the 2 of them unconsciously protected each other when the mob threw eggs at them. Because of this incident Terry got hurt and back at home Da Hua helped put some medicine of his bruise. Terry was so obviously uncomfortable with her closeness and Da Hua noticing it said that he shouldn’t develop any feelings for her because it would be awkward for them in the future. Terry didn’t say a word but his eyes said everything. I this point I thought, CW is really an effective actor because he is singlehandedly stealing this show with his sincere portrayal.
Terry asked Da Hua out for dinner and wanted to let her try his favorite dish as he did try hers before. But before they even started to eat, she got a message from Duan Jun reminding her to come home for her moms birthday. So she asked Terry to allow her to go home to which he agreed and even took her himself (unselfish guy!)
Da Hua gave her mom a jade bracelet which the mom recognized as something only her daughter would know so she went with her hunch and asked what she had been suspecting all along. “Tell me honestly, are you my daughter?” she said. To this DH broke down and admitted it. So everyone in the family now knows the sit. DJ came to confront Terry and told him he was only thinking of himself (and I was like, no he’s not! He told her to GO home so many times but she refused).
DH decided to stay home for the night and Terry was all alone at the big house and recalled the times he had with DH, muttering to himself
“I did everything which I promised you, how about what you had promised me?”
Awww, my heart just broke at this point. Sad, his heart is still so vulnerable that I feel like he is going to break anytime. My poor Terry.
The next morning DJ took DH on his motorcycle and the 2 of them look happy together.
Then came ep 13 preview. Oh, don’t even let me get started with that one because it sure looks like they’re going to turn my Terry into a villain (selfish, cunning — which he was clearly not until ep 12 mind you writers!). I sure hope I’m wrong. If they want to build up JW character they can do so, but not at the expense of CW’s character. I think it’s not Chris’ fault that he managed to make his character into someone which MOST viewers would love. Anyway I’m still hopeful.

King Flower/Princess Stand In/金大花的華麗冒險 Episode 13 ~
First of all I hate the new viki, it’s so confusing or maybe I’m just not used to it (yet).
Moving on.
Episode 13 opened with Terry impatiently brooding and pacing in his office unsure whether Da Hua will come back after staying the night with her family. Then came DH’s voice calling “Terry!” and then just like that his face lit up when she entered the office.
She apologized for divulging the secret but he said it’s okay as long as they don’t tell anyone. At that moment, Terry’s cousin entered and asked him about his plans regarding the protesters and what he’ll do about it since he only have a week left. He is such a leech, that cousin and DH gave Terry 2 thumbs up when he left.
After That Terry and DH visited Mr. Du at the hospital and he pressed them about the lack of wedding preparations. Terry’s secretary said that they will actually be taking wedding photos soon to which the 2 reluctantly agreed. During the photo shoot, DH was all I can’t do this because I have always imagined wearing a wedding dress next to the man I love and Terry said okay, let’s stop this and go home. But then she’s like, no I can do this. This is my job. (Seriously girl! make up your mind! Are you sure it’s just because it’s your job?)
So the photo shoot ensues and when the photographer asked them to kiss they both hesitated but DH said she can. Just as she was puckering up LGJ entered to deliver som flowers and Terry seeing him, suddenly pulled DH close making her kiss him. (I love that Terry acted impulsive like this) DH wanted to explain that it was just a fake scene so she went to see him with Terry in tow. They arrived just when the mob boss’ daughter was kissing LGJ. DH was all flustered and hurt and Terry tried to pacify her. At the same time he pointed that the girl must really like LGJ. Eventually, DH came to clear things up with LGJ and everything is fine with them again.
LGJ asked to meet with Terry and the 2 hashed it out. LGJ pointed out that Terry is taking things so seriously and that maybe he wants to turn the fake relationship into reality which will never happen. Terry asked LGJ how confident he is. Terry pointed out that objectively he is not good enough for DH.
The next night, LGJ came to pick up DH in his new delivery truck which he named Da Hua no. 1 and they drove off leaving Terry watching with a pained look as they left.
End.
My Thoughts
This episode turned out to be better that what I expected. Thankfully the writers did not make Terry bad but instead realistically like a person who is falling in love. A person in love would want to protect the one he loves. I also think that the writers better come up with another way to set up LGJ’s story line and no, I’m not being biased but rather being objective.

Da Hua: “Dad, I don’t think I can marry Terry.”
Mr. Du: “Why not? Did Terry bully you?!”
Next scene.
Terry’s secretary: “General Manager… have you fallen for Da Hua?”
Terry smiles amusedly, “What do you think?”
Next scene.
Mr. Du: “Terry, I have arranged for the best honeymoon suite for you and Liang Yan in our hotel.”

LGJ: “Da Hua, where are you?”
Terry (who picked up Da Hua’s phone): “I’m sorry. We are currently out of town for work.”

Ah Xi: “Da Hua currently out of town with Ouyang Tai?! That means that she will be spending the night alone with Terry?!”
Next scene.
Terry: “Da Hua.. I cannot imagine what it would be like without you beside me.”
Da Hua: “We can still continue to be friends.”
Terry: “What if I say that I hope you will stay forever by my side?”
My thought on the above preview:
Hell YEAH!!! About time to be proactive. Terry’s getting some moves on. I am crossing my fingers that “something” will happen to them. I heard we only have 7 eps to go, so they better build this up and by the looks of it we’re gonna get some. Da Hua falling on a half naked Terry. Give me more of that! (pretty please!!)

This is arguably my favorite song in the drama. The opening song by Dreamgirls is also very cute and upbeat as well as the ones from S.H.E. I didn’t know that it was Aaron’s, so I was pleasantly surprised and love it even more.
