Cheongdamdong Alice - Happy Ending
Of course we were all expecting to see a happy ending, right? It’s rare for a rom-com not to have one. All right, so after the 14th episode we were left with the question “will Seung-Jo really go crazy? will he kill himself or Han-se? what will happen to the couple after the big reveal? will Tommy Hong and Yoon-joo get kicked off Chengdamdong as well? Of course they were all answered but I’m not gonna give a blow by blow on this for various reasons. Instead I’ll just point out some scenes which I liked and didn’t like. First, I like the fact that they made references to Alice in Wonderland which should be the case since from the beginning we were led to believe that this was in fact inspired by that book. But on the flip side, I was also not so crazy about it when all characters were suddenly referencing the book complete with the dream sequence and all. Second, I liked how Yoon-joo redeemed herself in the end, deciding not to go “totally black” as she would put it but instead she decided to stand on her own two feet. I also liked this actress’ fashion sense, so fierce! Third, Tommy Hong’s character got more interesting towards the end but on the negative, I was a bit disappointed because he could have had a better exposure/storyline. Fourth, I like how they repeated certain scenes showing a critical scene showing what SJ thought transpired as opposed to what “really” transpired which was revealed later on to be “real” and not his “dream”. The actors sold the scene. Finally, the final kiss of course! But to be honest, I was actually holding out for something better or grander than that but oh well. It was generally a nice drama. There were some great scenes and no so great ones. I was not so crazy about the OTP but I stayed on till the end. Overall, I think it’s a 5. What say you?
