I’m still trying to get a grip of my emotion so pardon me (in advance) for raving and ranting. After finishing the drama last night I understoodd why this was the biggest hit of 2011. It was undoubtedly one of the best drama (of that genre) I’ve ever seen. It was well acted and well made. It takes us on a journey with the main character Zhang Xiao/Rouxi. We experience the fun, amusement, struggles, fear, love, longing and heartache (so much of it!) with her. I love how the characters drank tea and shared meaningful exchanges with each other. I’m not crazy about the hair tho, but I know it was the rave of that era. I love the love-hate relationships among the princes, but my favorite would have to be 4th, 13th and 14th. But at times, I was frustrated Rouxi because I don’t understand why she had to sacrifice so many things and even jeopardize her relationship with YinZhen. But then again, we wouldn’t have a story if she didn’t. I love how it was so melancholic and tragic. I was thrilled that Rouxi and Yinzhen met at the museum in the end, but the romantic in me would have loved a happy ending. Maybe a continuation then?…
