IDK whose love story was more tragic. Xue Jian & Jing Tian who get to be together, but he’s gonna die, or Chang Qing & Zi Xuan who’ve loved each other for 3 lifetimes, but have to pretend they don’t remember the love they share cause it always ends in tragedy. First as Liu Fang they commit suicide, but cause she’s a goddess she doesn’t die. Second as Ye Ping they get married, but she calls out Liu Fang’s name in her sleep so he thinks she loves another man & leaves & eventually dies in her arms after several warriors kill him w/ spears. And as Chang Qing he remembers all his past lives, but they decide it’s too hard to be together so they pretend to drink water designed to make them forget loving each other, but can’t bring themselves to do it.
Personally I have a soft spot for undying love and Zi Xuan and Changqing’s love story is so sad and beautiful at the same time. I think ancient Chinese series’ are full of tragic endings. Remember how CP 1 ended? I was totally gutted and crying buckets. I was like why does everybody have to die?! Haha.
